Why do my plot files have a *.prn extension?

Windows treats plotters and printers as the same type of device. Because of this, Windows will automatically add a *.prn extension associated with print files to a plot file. A *.prn file, however, is a valid plot file. When you create a plot file, simply type in the desired name and save to the appropriate drive.
