I am drawing a deck for a customer.  The home is a ranch with a walk out basement.  The deck is attached to the first floor of the home and is off the ground about 10'5" with stairs going down to the ground level.  How do I draw that so that it is raised?

Select edit and click on the deck. Go to the Common tab and adjust "Elevation Offset"

Where are you drawing the deck? I'd draw the deck on the first floor plan.

I always draw the deck and the stairs on the first floor plan. Then I add the necessary posts on the basement floor plan. Works out fine.

walkout basement:

straying a little from the actual subject.

not saying I'm right or wrong but

to me the explanation of this home would put it in the category of a

2 - story house since the basement is at ground level and not below ground level.

note: is this a true "walk-out" basement or just a basement .

note 2: I consider a walkout basement as something that is fully or partially underground.

btw,  we don't do a lot of basements around here.

they did many decades ago.

I spoke with the head of bank of americas building loan departments and he wondered why

there weren't more being built.  he thought it was money well spent.  never did get an answer

about why more weren't being built.

there's almost none being built nowadays unless the homes on a sufficiently sloped site

where the cross section would make it economically / practical to do so.

and i'd call the basement, with I presume a garage, the "lower level  or main level or first floor"

and the top floor the "second floor" or upper floor.

really isn't that important as long as everyone in your area knows what your referring too.

I assume you've got something like this ... Deck may be bigger and not under an overhang, but the principle is the same.
