We can set default pens for layers that we create in the System options but when generating elevations, a lot of layers are created by Softplan which come back frequently such as Roof/Asphalt Singles, Roof/Fascias, Walls/Brick A, ... Is there a way to set default pens for those layers? Instead of having to create a default sheet with the different pen settings, saving it and merging the elevations so that it sets to these same pen settings?

Yes, If the standard layers are already created in the system options, the default pens set for them will be used. What I'd do is look at a standard elevation, and re-create the relevant layers and pens in the system layer setup. That way whenever you generate an elevation all the standard layers will already exist and will therefore default to the pens you just set. You can do the same with the sections too!

So to clarify Keith, it wont create double layers?  That is a great thing to know for hatching like shingles and brick and such.

No, it won't create double layers. If the layer already exists, Softplan uses it. So if you pre-populate the layers, you can control in advance all the properties of those layers.

There is no need to create layers such as "Walls/BrickA".  The layer is created by the system, if you change the pen setting on a drawing, then "Save to System", the next time a drawing has a "Walls/BrickA" entry it will use the customized pen setting.

After a few jobs your elevations and sections should automatically be created looking exactly the way you want.

Would be great to have the same possibility to save the Mode Visibilities to the System Options

Note that your floor plans need to have the new settings for the elevations and sections to generate with your new settings. Otherwise, the annoying thing is that if you want to do a "Reset to System" based on your new settings for an elevation or section, most of the boxes for "Visible" in the Layer Setup will be unchecked therefore off.

Hey John if you save to system will that not set the current layers in the drawing to be the system default and any new drawing would contain these layers as well if you reset a drawing to system it would add all these unnecessary elevation layers?  I am not a fan of extra layers in my drawings much less extra layers with nothing on them.
