When I add gable vents to my gable roofs and make gable from roof the vent appears just fine but when I make the wall fit to roof then the gable disappears or just the outer sections that extends past the siding texture. How do I get the gable vent to appear when making the wall fit roof?

Hi Thomas,

Have you tried going into roof mode and clicking on edit edge? You can then check gable vent and it should appear with wall fit to roof

No sure Thomas if I understand correctly but if your vent is in your gable and then you fit your wall to the roof, your wall is covering your gable.

Yes, the gable vent is checked. What strange is that the opposite side gable has the gable vent checked and the Gable end provided by roof is unchecked. The vent is showing correctly but the opposite side gable with the same settings is giving me the problems. Basically just showing the outer rim of the vent but not the whole vent. I've ran into this problem on other drawings but wasn't worried as I didn't do any 3D renderings at the time.

Draw your vent is your wall as an opening instead.

Yes, I have done that a couple times but I was hoping to get the gable vent option with one click rather than multiple. It bugs me more than it is a problem not knowing why it disappears or partially disappears on some but not all the gables I use wall to gable setting.

the gable wall area can be provided by:

1. the roof above (by checking "gable end provide by roof").... or ...

2. by extending the walls below up to the underside of the roof...

don't do BOTH...

so...

if the gable wall area is modeled by the ROOF above, then the roof edge vent option is the way to go..

but if the gable wall area is modeled by extending the WALLS below, then a vent "opening" should be placed within the wall ..

in either circumstance, be sure to check the "offset" of the vent or opening
