Looking at the basis specs, it should be a really blazing fast card. I don't think you could get much better. However, just my humble opinion. Seems to be a little cheaper than a comparable Nvidia card. Again just my opinion.
I have a really old 512 MB Radeon HD4300 in my home machine, and it runs Softplan fine. A little slow, but I didn't even expect it to run, so a big bonus!

PassMark Software Video Card Benchmark (as one source for this type of info) has a rating of 7,777 for the Radeon RX 480, .. fairly high on their scale of things .
(visit the PassMark Site for info on how they arrive at their ratings and what they mean)
I was using the Intel HD 400 Series for quite some time (integrated graphics) and it worked well, but a little slow at times, (Pass Mark 900 or so)
Radeon RX 480 should be more than enough for Softplan, ..
I've since upgraded to the Nvidia GTX 980 Ti ( PassMark rating 11, 450+) and a Xeon Processor, .. (zoooom)
.. invariably, someone will have a simpler solution.

The "Radeon RX 480 8G" is most definitely a gaming card.
Although looking at the back of the card, I'm not sure how you connect a standard monitor, so you might have to use something other than DVI or VGA connectors.
