I assume you mean in a gable ... There are a few ready built symbols in the library.

You could always draw some beams, hide them, and remove them from "Extract in 3D" and fit the roof to the beams.

Sam, if the bay is physically constructed of walls, then that works fine. However, with a bay over a flat wall (which I suspect is the case here) or an oriel bay, the window looks flat like the wall on plan and the roof won't pick up the bay.

That is true but it will not make a correct model unless you take the time to draw a wall which you can generate a roof with and then you have a good model which will generate correct elevations and roof plan.

Doesn't that depend on whether it's a walk in bay or just a bay window?

If it's just a bay window (not a walk in bay) with a shingled or maybe standing seam roof, then typical what I would do is build a 2x6 box around the top of the window with a plate on top, then set the bay roof rafters on top of that. If you draw the model like that it will provide an accurate model, and an accurate takeoff. I typically use Andersen windows, and their bay style has a cable support system that would be hidden within the roof structure. This way the top can be insulated properly as well - if your building in a cold climate zone.
