So just ran into a issue with my GPU.  I currently and have been using an AMD FirePro V5900 for the last 3 years and didn't have an issue.

Since bumping up to 2016 I have had issues with my mouse, moving text, overlaying etc.  I emailed softplan support and here is the email I got back from them

"Unfortunately this is correct. We would suggest using a "Gamer" card, such as a standard Nvidia GeForce or ATI Radeon card rather than a workstation card such as a firepro or quadro card.

I am a bit upset with this but I guess I am sol and will have to change my video card.  I am looking at the Nvidia GeForce GTX 960.  Does anyone else have this card and what do you think about it.  Or is there a better option than the GTX 960?

This is my setup and I have been very happy.  Mine is on an over-powered laptop.

Here is a comparison of what I use vs. what you are looking at:

I say go for it!

Thanks for that info.  What site did you get that comparison from?

I had the same answer from Softplan a couple of weeks ago when I started having problems with Softplan 2014 even if I had the same system and Softplan 2014. Found out in the end that the last video card update did install correctly. Did an update directly from the manufacturer site and that solved the problem. Don't know if 2016 is different but might be worth checking this out first.

So I purchased and installed the Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 card and still have some issues a few things.  I think the issues I am still having are 2016 bugs!  I would have to say my renderings are about 3 times faster than my old card and much clearer/crisper on screen.  Very happy with the card so far!

i have a GT 640 in a  1 year old dell XPS 5500 desktop - i7

will changing my GT 640 for a nVidia GeForce GTX 960  be worth the $200

and where do i buy it for $200 as i saw in the 2-jpg above ?

btw,

the gt 640 isn't that slow but can always use more speed and crispier screen.

My original card was the Firepro V5900 and as you can see in the comparison chart I had a significant increase.  So far so good.

I paid $500 for it 3 years ago.  Such is life in the computer/software industry.

Our tech is looking at putting a AMD RadeonT R5 340X (2GB DP/DVI-I) in my new computer. Anybody uses this card?
