Just started on my first SoftPlan blueprint, and so far so good....except:
I want the dimension string to begin at the exterior side of the exterior frame wall, in this case a 2x6, without showing the thickness of the outside walls.  Then, the dimension string is to go  through all of the interior walls, with the dimensions showing up on each side of the interior walls and not showing the interior wall thickness.  Finally, it ends up on the outside of the opposite exterior wall, again not showing the wall thickness.

I am able to get everything I want except for the initial and end parts of the string.  The dimension string starts at the interior, not exterior side of the exterior wall.

In the Dimension Defaults, Drawing Options are set to "Exterior Stud Outside", "Interior Edge".  The box about showing wall thickness is unchecked as is the box showing "line through wall".

Next, once the dimension string has been drawn, I opened the "Dimension Format" Menu from the "Dimension" Menu.  Again, the box is checked for the Outside of the Exterior walls and the Edges of the interior walls.

Then, I check the box that says "Convert", click "OK" and back to the drawing but the dimensions remain as they were, with the inside, not the outside of the wall stud being dimensioned.

How do I get the dimension string to pick up the outside of the exterior walls and not the inside?

    Thanks in advance,

     Lane

You will have to edit the wall definitions because they overide the default settings

As Martin says, ..

Edit your wall definition, ..

Settings shown dim01.jpg result in dim02A

Settings shown dim02 result in dim02A, .. which I think is what you've described, ..

Interior Wall Dimension, .. to eliminate, ..

'Dimension Options' with Wall Thickness and Line Through Wall toggled off

.. invariably, someone will have a simpler solution.
