Hi,

Can someone help me?  How do I adjust the jamb thickness of a window?  Common window jamb thickness are usually 4 9/16 or 5 9/16 in our area.  I am trying to create a opening schedule that would reflect the jamb thicknesses.

Another question I have, is there any way to change the default settings in the opening schedules?   Basically I wish to use the items they have listed but the orders are not the way I want them.

Thank you

Chad

I don't believe that the jambs can be adjusted independently.

For the opening schedule, REMOVE ALL the fields, and then INCLUDE your preferred fields in the order you want to see them. Then check the SAVE AS DEFAULT box at the bottom.

Keith,

Thank you for your reply.  Softplan defaults opening jambs to 4 9/16, so in order for me to change this it has to be done in manually in the opening schedule.  As for saving the defaults button I never saw this.  I can't believe I missed this!!!!

Thanks again

Chad

If I understand correctly, what your looking for would be the frame width in the System or Drawing Options. The only thing is that you may have to adjust your door symbol widths (that's what I have in my system doors library) if the frame size required for the doors is larger.

There really should be in the system and drawing options a separate setting for windows and doors.

Yvon,

Yes thank you.  I miss lead before the jamb thickness I prefer is 6 9/16".  I switch the opening options to reflect this but will it effect the interior doors?

Depends on if your doors are set to use the default setting. For most interior walls, if your jamb setting is set to 6 9/16", you won't see a difference because your jamb setting is larger than the wall thickness (ex; 2x6 wall = 2 x 1/2" + 5 1/2" = 6 1/2") so the jamb will cover the width of the wall. If you had a 2x8 wall, then you would have to adjust your jamb for doors in that wall or if you set the jamb thickness to zero in your interior door library, it would always make the jamb the width of the wall.
