I have done everything I can think of and can't get any further that the attached screen shot.  I have a 12/12 main roof and want a 5/12 shed off the back and 2 small shed dormers on the front.  I have read and re-read the manual with no luck.

Thanks for any help,

Mike

It's really hard to see the problem Mike. What can't you do?

Try using the false dormer command in the roof menu and edit the created roof to suit.

Thanks Keith, but I have done that over and over again and the dormer roof isn't  there.  The lollypops are hollow and I can't get them to change without lines going everywhere.  This roof section is over the garage so I tried other places on the house and can't get the false dormer to work there either.  This project has been a challenge from the start.  The walls are ICF's with the floor system inside the perimeter.

Anyway its not the "false gable" feature because I can go another project with traditional construction and drop false dormers anywhere.  I created a cross section , line by line, to show the owner the headroom.  I wouldn't think it would be the ICF's, as a roof attaches to it.

I can finish line by line but didn't want to.  It bugs me I haven't been able to stumble into a fix.

Thanks again for your response.

It looks like your solid gray "lollipop" for your main roof might be referenced to your dormer wall.  Try dragging it away from the dormer along the same wall.  That leaves only an intersect line with your 3 other lollipops, which do not make a roof. (hollow intersect, and x-filled side wall lollipops.) Delete them If your dormer walls are all the same height, then try add roof, or maybe trace roof and see if a roof appears.  maybe.  The roof module can get confused when it gets conflicting instructions.  Worth a shot anyway.  I have experienced your problem, but going from memory, which is risky in my case.

I think Brian may be onto something, but I'd try a different solution.

Where the dormer and the main wall are on the same line may be confusing. I'd pull all the dormers away from the lower walls until the roofs are established, and then put them back later. I think the upper dormer roof is trying to reference the lower wall.

Softplan is very picky about having multiple roofs referencing the same wall.

Keith and Brian thanks for your help.  A combination of your remedies helped get me on track.
