Has anyone ever written a procedure for how to upgrade to a new Softplan version?

I want to take advantage of new and upgraded libraries and features. I try to incorporate my existing info every time we get a major release update. I have to spend hours transferring and coordinating info between versions. Symbol libraries, 3D symbol libraries, 3D texture libraries, Opening libraries, finishing options... I often add or move or rename folders and subfolders or change specific settings or file relationships. (i.e. Setting grills default for all windows, symbol links to different 3D symbol, Setting what shows up in elevation/section...) I was hoping some of the more advanced users on here could share some tips to make this easier. Do you just transfer your old stuff and miss out on the new?

I know there is an option under archive-restore to maintain existing libraries but that leaves a lot of duplicates and does not solve many of the issues listed above.

Additionally, does anyone know where the default Finishing Option settings are for baseboard, Crown, chair rail? Where can you predefine a multi-part crown?

You shouldn't have to transfer anything ...

There is a way to bring ALL your existing settings etc. straight into 2018. Although without running the setup again, I can't tell you how to do it. As far as I'm aware it merges the OLD and NEW items seamlessly. I don't see any of the duplicates that you are worried about.

The finishing options for baseboard etc. are in the rooms menu. FILE > SYSTEM OPTIONS > SYSTEM LIBRARY > ROOMS ... click on any room and EDIT it, and you'll be presented with the full edit menu for all rooms.

I don't believe you can predefine a multi-part crown. It's made by adding profiles within the EDIT box for a specific crown. However, there's nothing stopping you defining a single profile to suit.

I've just realised that in the Rooms menu, you CAN define a multi-part built up profile as a default in the standard menu's.
