I have upgraded to 2018 and since I have noticed that many of my symbols, notes and templates have disappeared from 2016.  This has not anything to do with creating a new project in 2016 but my existing.  Is there a way that I can get to my old 2016 files or did the upgrade just move everything to 2018?  Ugh.

It shouldn't have moved but copied your files. Do you have any system backup from 2016 that you could do a restore?

Not a real current one.  Unfortunately I only do an archive every 6 months or so.  I can go in and copy the files (openings and symbols) from 2018 back to the 2016 file; actually that may be where the problem arose, when I installed 2016 it created it as "Softplan" and not "Softplan 2016" like all previous versions had.  I wonder if that is where it got messed up. My biggest problem was all my plan set templates disappeared.  I had to go to old projects and re-save/create them.  Not where I wanted to spend my time for a simple redline set :-)

My 2016 installation also created a SOFTPLAN directory ... 2018 created a SOFTPLAN-1 directory., and copied ALL my settings etc. over. I haven't noticed anything missing.

Thanks Keith.  Found it.  Mine created a similar though instead of a "1" it had the date of the install.  Re-pathed everything and looks like I am back on track
