I have a client who wants to meet out of the office. I have SP on a desktop. Can I install SP on a laptop and use current key or do I need another key, network key, etc.?

You can install on your laptop and use your same key.

Just note: your system options will be different, but you will be able to operate normally.

If you archive ALL your System Options from the desktop, you can restore the same System Options to your laptop.

Make sure that ANY custom textures etc. are located in the same directory structure on the laptop as they are on the desktop.

I use the same key on my laptop as on the desktop. You can run only one of the 2 at the same time. I made copies of my 2016 projects so I can try them in 2018 first to make sure they are working properly first. Then I have been running Softplan 2016 and Softplan 2018 at the same time on the same computer so i can easily cross check for mistakes. That maybe isn't necessary Though!

Another option is to use a remote desktop app.  You can remotely control your powerful desktop from your not so powerful laptop at the site.  All you'll need is an internet connection.

There will be a bit of a lag, but for limited use, very doable.
