Afternoon,

I'm working on a two story house right now and I'm applying the roof.  Once I've have it laid out. It's giving me an "X" instead of the "R" and not letting me set a pitch to my roof.  It's keeping it horizontal pitch.

What's the trick?

I tried just putting a roof on the first floor and that worked just fine.  I could edit edges and change from hips to gables and edit pitch and everything house but as soon as I go to layout the roof on the second floor with Multiple floor roof on it gives me nothing.

I do not know if it a bug.  Try not stacking your floors.   Put your second floor in you model with nothing else and see if you can create your roof.

Also, are your second floor walls a bearing wall?  Roofs can not reference non bearing walls.

Hello Matt,

Could you post a screen shot of the edit window you are seeing. X and R ?

Steve

Normally a "X" is a gable end, and you can't pitch a gable. As Steve Said, a screenshot would help

Can you post a shot the EDIT window OVER the relevant plan view?

attached is where I clicked the X to edit the roof and you can see its calling it a hip.

I've gone down to the pitch in the edit box and tried to click the circle to enter a pitch I want and it will not let me enter a value for my pitch.

I understand you cant edit the front of a GABLE and assign it a pitch  lol.

I traced my roof around my bearing walls and its give me one EDIT bubble marked "R" and the rest of them are all an "x".  I've gone around looking at all the "x" and its set as a hip in the roof edge edit box.

We can't really see anything from that screenshot. Try using auto roof, and edit it from there. That may work better for you.

Try adjusting the "lollipops" to make sure they are referenced properly to the wall.

I've already done auto roof.

like I've when apply a roof just on the first floor I can edit and change anything I want. But that's not how its suppose to be drawn.

So I'm trying to apply the roof on the 2nd floor with the multiple floor and its acting like it doesn't know what the hell is going on,

This is obviously wrong, but at least it has a roof.

If you change the default pitch in the setup options from 0 to whatever you want and then EDIT the roof, it will let you change the pitch from horizontal.

It wouldn't with the default set on 0.
