How do you rotate the text that appears inside the cabinet?

The correct way to view text is from standing at the cabinet in "real life" and reading left to right.

You can't. You would have to select not to show name and add notes after.

We generally try to orientate text to read from the bottom or the right.

Just looking to clarify your request, the cabinet run that is horizontal on the screen with the fronts facing up, the text should read upside down?

Do you have an example that shows how cabinets in all orientations should appear? It always helps when I log the suggestion to have a picture and an NKBA standard to reference if possible.

Thanks Allen

I agree.  Never heard of it being like you would mention with the words upside down.

Brent, I understand your point and you are correct.  Yes, the text would appear to be backwards on the horizontal.  It will take some "getting use to" but this is correct.  This is very debatable.  I will get you some NKBA standard as backing.

NKBA also prefers cabinets to be dashed and counter-tops to be solid....i believe this is now possible.  I have not messed with up because i like c-tops dashed and cabinets solid....another difference between Architects and cabinet designers.

Thanks Allen. I certainly don't mind logging the suggestion for the text direction but will just need an example to reference.

With regards to the dashed lines vs solid lines for the countertop and cabinets in plan, the option 'Draw In Solid Lines' will do what you need. The option can be found under the Countertop section of the Cabinet Options at drawing, project and system level.

Here's a couple of screen shots from 'NKBA Drawing Standards' related websites

The second image displays cabinet text labels as Allen mentioned, ..

Maybe just me but I don't think I could bring myself to put cabinet text upside down on a drawing.  In fact, I would like the ability to make all cabinet text horizontal.  With that said, I like the ability to use "Show ID Instead" along with the ability to add a comment column on the schedule in 2018.  I think it will unclutter the kitchen.

Thanks Doug. Will we need two suggestions for labeling plan cabinets:  'All Horizontal' as well as, "Read Label from Front of Cabinet" ?

Personally, .. I don't provide Kitchen Cabinet labeling on my drawings, .. I do design the Kitchen Layout based on conventional sizing so there is a practicality to it all, but because the client will be dealing with any number of Kitchen suppliers and taking their input to achieve a final design .. I stay out of that picture, ..

So if the outline of the base cabinet is dashed, countertop is solid, how do you get the upper cabinet to be solid and not dashed as well?

unless my clients are hiring me to design the "WHOLE" kitchen and layout,

i'll use solids to do a quick layout and leave the design to the kitchen designer

that the client hires.

note:  depending on what they want in the final design, i'll give

the kitchen the approximate amount of space.

I like dashed cabinets and solid lines for the countertops.

don't know how important this is but when I went to architectural school,

we were taught that 4' above the floor line is your viewing height.

I do work with the kitchen designer when walls / spaces / windows / drs

have to be renegotiated

this is where some of my "extra fees" come in.

same with interior designers, pool designers (I usually design the pools)

extras are stipulated in the design contract.  my fees are mostly "flat fee"

with extras "by the hour" at a specified dollar amount.

never do a sq foot

word of advise:

I also state in the contract that i'm a "building designer"

******never write or mention the word architect / architectural / etc on your

business card, correspondance or in a contract.

I have logged a suggestion for the label text directions. CO-47387

The solid linetype option for the wall cabinets has been requested on CO-40224. Another way to achieve this is to set the wall cabinets to a layer that has the Solid lintype selected and the 'Use Item(s) Linestyle' unchecked in the layer options.

Brent

An issue presently unless I'm missing something is that if you select solid lines for the counters to have the base cabinets dashed, tall cabinets show up as dashed which I think is wrong as it should appear in solid lines. Will we still be able to have the uppers dashed but tall cabinets solid?

Thanks
