I am creating a new wall type.  It is a half wall with screen above.  At the top I have included two beams which I will want as bearing.  When I create it adn view the 3D view it does not show these top beams.  Not sure why not.

I guess I can make these trim pieces and then run a beam across the top as I would for a normal covered porch so that it also can be bearing for the room.

That is another issue.  This wall does not show up in roof mode so I can not get a roof over it.  It looks similar to a normal wall so I am not sure where my error is.

not sure this is it but are the beams "DISPLAY" checked in materials and/or visible items / framing ?

side note:  is the beam set to EXTRACT in the MODEL ?    common tab / make sure box is checked.

note: I didn't check it in softplan so might be other things that aren't checked or checked that shouldn't be.

You may need to adjust the 'display height'. Currently is is set at 43", therefore your beam is not showing on your floor plan which means it will not show on your roof plan.
This is a loop hole as when adjusted, it is only going to appear that a beam is there and not your wall......can't have both in this scenario.

Nope, tried both and that doesn't seem to be any changes.

Your built up beam has a vertical starting position of 117", but your wall is 109".  Reduce the vertical starting position so it fits into your mold.

Not related to your issue, but you may want to look at the "Fixed" column in the definition.  As defined your beam will adjust height along with the wall.  (maybe you prefer this?).

Thanks Derrik.  Adjusted both and still not showing.  Have a slight thought that perhaps I need to erase the wall and start redraw it to see if that might fix it.  Will check on it after I get past this deadline.

Hmm.  Not sure why it would affect it unless it shot the beam up to an unseen location but after I checked it to be fixed they appeared.

Tom,

I have a wall I drew up similar to yours. 2' siding and the remainder screen wall. I place the wall in position and then add the beams over the top of the screen wall coming off an existing wall. I don't make the beams part of the wall itself. Works fine and shows up in roof mode.
