I have scanned a drawing of a property.  I then imported the image.  I was hoping to draw over the top of the property lines.  I know the lengths  of the property.  I seem to recall there is a way to tell the unscaled line what the distance is but can't remember.

What I do to check to see if the image is dimensionally accurate due to scan, copy, or other changes that can occur in the original, is to import the image and then draw various lines over the image on known dimensions.  I compare the line lengths to get ratios of lines over various portions to get an average scale factor.  Just how I do it to give me confidence.  I can really move and edit line positions to get the best possible placement and then compare my ratios.

I am probably doing something wrong.  I import a pdf and then adjust scale by distance as Yvonne describes.  If I use a horizontal dimension then the vertical size is off.  The reverse is true if I use a vertical dimension to adjust size.  Is there a 'maintain aspect ratio' button somewhere??

I had never done it with an image before but click to edit the image first and you should have a box for "Maintain Proportions". Check the box and then try to adjust.

It sounds as if your original has been distorted in some way. When using adjust size it always maintains the aspect ratio.

Why not just do it old school?  Measure a length that you know the distance of.  Then do the ratio to figure out at what percentage you need to enlarge or decrease.

I do wish that we had an option to import PDF files to scale instead of having to adjust. But just a wish because I can normally scale it.
