SLOPED BEAM

if you edit the BOTTOM of a SLOPED BEAM,

it doesn't show you what end

if you edit the TOP of a sloped beam,

it SHOWS you what end.

doesn't matter if beam is horz or vert.

someone had me check to see if the beam stayed sloped

when I edited it to slope,

mine stayed sloped but the fellow softplan users didn't stay sloped.

I guess we can say there's a couple of issues with the "sloped" beam command.

note:

if tech wants me to send my softplan drawing, i'll send it but first I need to know

the procedure.

i've never sent a drawing to tech.

Randy you would start a help ticket for tech when the drawing you are working on is open

and showing the issue you are having. You will have an option on the ticket to attach any

additional files relating to the question/issue.  Steve

the sloped beam works well for me and the command sticks.

However, it would be nice to be able to tilt the beam off the vertical axis. For example, rotate 14 degrees to fit perpendicular (on the rake) under a 3:12 roof. Might already be a way to do this I just have not found it.

Deleted, Jeremy I gave you wrong information, the angle box is for the direction on the plan page.

Steve/Carla - the slope as you described works great for me. I mean to be able to tilt the beam off its tall axis not the long axis. Like a piece of fascia installed on a rake instead of plumb .

Jeremy, i'm not sure what you want but the new command

MOVE / MAKE PARALLEL   might help

note: you might have to use it in conjunction with MOVE / ROTATE or rotate block or some other command.

btw,  i'm just guessing / sort of.

Thanks for your input you all. It is a specialized install for some beams that cantilever out for a section of the roof. Just thought I'd throw it out there when I saw the beam slope post. It's all drawn an in for permitting, all well. Thanks.
