I don't have a problem creating custom profiles.

But I can't seem to figure how to add the custom profile to the Room Library in the Room mode.

I have a custom picture rail profile I want to use.  Don't know how to get it in there.

Would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

You have to edit Rooms in the system library. FILE > SYSTEM LIBRARY > SYSTEM OPTIONS > ROOMS pick any room and edit it, and it will bring up the editor for ALL rooms, where you can add your custom profile.

Does that do what you want?, or have you got other issues?

Hi Keith,

That path doesn't exist for me.  Can't go from System Library > System Options.

Even starting from System Options I don't see where I can drill down to editing room options.

Let's approach the question in another way:  I've created a profile for a picture rail.  (I've placed it both in the chair rail and banding libraries.)  How do I go from there to having it installed in a room?

When I go to installing a chair rail or banding the profile doesn't show up.  I do see all these other items in the list (banding 18, banding 19,... ). I don't know how to redefine these option either.

Please help me get out of this befuddlement.

Thanks.

The path Keith is explaining is once you select room, select a room (ex.Dining Room), Edti Symbol, Chair rail and double click on the chair rail of the dining room. Then Add new profile and Delete existing.

Sorry, I got the path wrong ... got to stop working from memory ... the path is: FILE > SYSTEM OPTIONS > SYSTEM LIBRARY > ROOMS

Having said that there's no reason why you can't edit the profile directly from the rooms layout edit function.

If you can't see the profile, it may be that the profile was defined at system level, and is not resident in the drawing. Go to FILE > DRAWING OPTIONS > DRAWING LIBRARY > PROFILES and RESET LIBRARY for each of the relevant libraries - CHAIR RAIL and BANDING.

Thank you for your replies, but I'm still not getting it.  I don't know what I'm missing.

Yvon, I don't seem to be able to add or edit a profile when I'm in the Room libraries - neither from the System Library or directly from the Room Library when I am in Room Mode.

I'm not able to get to that bottom third menu box (on the lower right) you have in you attachment (which, BTW, only says "add" or "remove" - no edit).

This is all I get when I follow that path:

BTW, reseting the libraries while in Drawing Library did not change anything.

Found the solution with the help of SoftPlan Tech Assistance.  For the record, this is what Greg, in technical support, said:

"The one step that is missing from everything that you might have read, is that to you need to set the new profile up first in the System Options>Finishing Option>Chair Rail Options. Choose chair rail 15 and then below choose the new profile that you would like to use. Once you have it set here you can access from the other menu as the instruction have previously stated."

The one other thing I needed to do was to restart the program for the change to take effect.

I have to say that creating PROFILES, and having to add them to FINISHING OPTIONS for them to be active is very unintuitive.

Glad you got it sorted out.

Very true - not intuitive.

I tried hunting this down in the help menu.  Couldn't find it.

there's no explanations on the "how too"

we've had this same issue since v10.

i'm sure tech can come up with an easy way.

it can be done but you have to remember the "how too"

that's the part most of us seem to forget mainly

because we don't have to do it that often.

for some things, we don't have to do thru

the same process to get it into the system.
