Hello all,

Looking to create a stair railing that is a knee wall instead of posts and spindles.

Anyone?

Two options I can see.

1- If it's a wall starting from the floor and extending as a knee wall (railing height), draw wall sections as needed and select "Rake Top" when you edit the wall. You will need to do calculations for your various heights.

2- If the bottom of the knee wall follows the slope of the stairs, you could draw a railing with a square handrail. Turn off posts, toe rail and spindles and set the depth of your handrail to the same as the Handrail Height.

Hello, I was able to utilize rake bottom and rake top to achieve the desired results. This way I get a semi-accurate material list as well as the desired effect.

Question: It would be nice to add at top cap to this. perhaps that's where a railing with no posts and no spindles and no toe rail would come in handy?

Use a custom wall definition that has a oak (or similar) cap defined specifically in the wall.
