How do we turn OFF that automatic or phantom dimensioning.  Its far too intrusive to be on all the time, its causing double dimensions at times and dimensioning things I do not want dimensioned.  It was tolerable in V2016 however became too disruptive in V2018.

The ability to toggle this on/off was widely agreed upon in 2106 so now wondering where that function is.

Joe,

Look under system options>setup options there is a checkbox for auto extension and dimensions.  I have always kept it off.

HI Brad, thanks for the reply.  The dimensions i refer to are the temporary one that show up then disappear while i'm trying to dimension my plan....they get in the way.

Brad was almost right, but I think you want to go to System Options / Setup Options and on the right side of the menu under 'Option' just un-check the 'Display Temporary Dimensions' line...

If you are referring to the temporary dimensions that appear when moving items etc, they can be disabled under 'File- System Options- Disable Temporary Dimensions'. That is the same location as we used in 2016.

If you don't mind expanding on how the dimensions are disruptive in 2018, we would appreciate the feedback.

Thanks Joe.

Thanks for the help on toggling temporary dimensions when moving things.

The dimensions i'm talking about are the ones that pop up automatically while i'm in my dimension mode or running dimension strings.  Checkout the image below. (notice the 6'-1" and 7'-3 1/2").  These are the ones that get in my way.  I need the ability to get rid of them.

Joseph is right. These are super annoying.  I have done all of the steps above, but nothing effects these 'ghost' dimensions. Please make a way to turn this feature off.

Agreed ... they are trying to predict where we want to put dimensions ... as far as I'm concerned they are trying to get too smart, and are really frustrating/annoying. I too would like to be able to turn them off.

Thanks for your feedback.

The difference in 2018 is that the dimension appears prior to starting a dimension. In 2016 we showed the predicted location after the first click was made. I have logged a suggestion to add an On/Off Option. CO-47620.

I'll add one more strong vote for a way to get rid of this annoyance.

Agree here as well.  I have found that as I work with this program 8 hrs a day every day, that I prefer less confusing things flying around the screen.  I already know where I click and what is going to happen next.  Any precursors or predictions on what will be happening next is just too busy.

OK so when is this getting fixed?  Its insanely stupid and causing too many added mouse clicks and cad command confusion.  Make sure the predicted helper fix encompasses everything to include cad commands like 'trim' and 'align to edge'.

You all make me wonder what I am doing wrong because it doesn't seem to affect/bother me.  :P

I haven't used 2018 much, but in 2016 they are not a problem for me.
