for you younguns,

 

this is called a "drafting table"

 

and what us "olduns" used back in the day

 

before computers and cadd

 

this setup is for one of the olduns who loves grapes.

btw, the "parallel bar"  is being replaced.

for now he's using the vemco machine 

(have to be careful you don't rip your velum)

Yes. And this one seems to be an advance model as it doesn't have a T-square  ;)

i did have a mayline "parallel bar" w/rolling bearing

that i used 99.99% of the time > 

very seldom used the vemco machine.

I spent a lot of time cleaning the graphite off the pad of my right hand. You know you had a busy day by the amount of eraser fibers on your lap when you finally stepped away from the board.

This one is quite fancy even without the Tee square. But the clear table for light is sweet. Great for seeing if you lined up all the bearing points right. For all you young guns, that would be Overlay in your tool bar.
