So, the other morning, i couldn't use my Logitech Trackball at all. It just stopped working. After doing some investigation, i determined it was an issue with the software. The 'Mouse' button where you can set the various functions of the buttons was not showing. After removing & reinstalling with current & old setpoint software, the issue still remains. Has anyone else had this happen? If so, what was the solution? I'm suspecting some file in the windows registry is corrupt, but what do i know of such things!

Did you download the latest/greatest drivers from Logitech's website? If not, I'd recommend that you do.
How did you determine that it's a software issue? Did you try it on another machine?

D/id all the latest from Logitech, drivers & software. I did try it on 2 other machines...no joy. It seems like a software issue due to not all the functions are working/showing when i open up the setpoint software. It does seem strange that it was working the night prior, then nothing in the morning. Doing a google search it seems this is an issue that has been going on for a few years. Oh well, i'll just keep digging. Thanks, Gary

When you say "No joy" do you mean it didn't work on the other machines? If that's the case I'd say it was a hardware issue, not a software one.

I guess i should of been more explicit. On the other machines, i installed the software, but it still was missing the 'mouse' button. That led me to believe it's a software issue, but i could be wrong.

Don't see Logitech's software being that corrupt. I'd rather expect that the software is reporting what the firmware in the trackball is telling it. So if the Mouse button is missing in two installations, I'd suspect that the mouse button isn't working, and the firmware is assuming it doesn't exist, and not reporting it to the software. So a hardware problem - Especially since it was working yesterday. However, I'm not an expert, so it's really just a guess. You don't have a spare I assume?

i've had similar problem but for different reasons
once it was the wrong setpoint software
once it was the rechargeable batteries / went bad
(btw, you can't replace those batteries)
had to buy a new MX revolution
once it was the "on-off" button was turned to off
NOTE: call up the logitech / tech dept. their very helpful.

Well, i'm happy to say that it's working now! Operator Error! When i replaced the batteries the other day, i had put one in backwards...duh! So, i guess the other day the batteries had died, but the software was supposed to pick up on that (battery level is a feature of the software). Thanks for mentioning the batteries Randy, it made me look at them. Anyway, i'm a happy camper. Thanks for the input.
