One thing that is becoming more and more frustrating to me is Plan sets ...

Don't get me wrong ... I love Plansets, but the way they use title blocks from the default Softplan directory is appalling. It means that you can only open a planset from the COMPUTER that opened them, as invariably opening them on another computer, means that the directory path to the TITLE BLOCK is invalid, and you ALWAYS get an error opening the page and NO Title Blocks.

Would it be possible for any CHOSEN title blocks to be copied directly into the PROJECT folder when they are selected, and then saved with the project so that when the planset is opened on another computer it displays correctly.

It seems from reading other threads that even clean installs use many different paths to the default Softplan directory. Not sure why that is, but it sure doesn't help.

ALL our office projects are backed up to a CENTRAL hard drive, but the TITLE BLOCKS are never with the project so they can't be correctly opened from a backup drive, as they are referencing a LOCAL C:\ drive. This means that if another staff member needs to refer to a planset when the originator is out of the office, that they CANNOT correctly open them, and it's causing no end of issues. Especially during vacations and illnesses etc.

AND before anyone points it out, NO we don't use the Softplan cloud features if we can help it. In our rural location, we get a S..L..O..W (and really unreliable) connection, that again can cause major issues. Even opening Softplan some mornings is painful as we can't get a connection.

The way I got around this was to copy my customized title block to each and every computer station.

When they open the softplan drawing, the customized title block will be the same as what is on your system.

Only if the default path is exactly the same ...

It would be much easier if it saves as default IN the project folder with the project ... in much the same way that system options become drawing options.

Only if the default path is exactly the same ...

Not true on our end.

My SoftPlan installation is located at C:\SoftPlan and on another computer the default SoftPlan location is C:\SoftPlan2016

It still works fine for us.

The title block directory is still the default title block directory underneath the root directly, no matter where it is located.

I agree that there could be a better way to store them and to me that way would be to make a choice for an alternate title block directly, much like we have for symbols.

I store all of our symbols in a common directory on the server so if someone creates a new symbol, it is available to everyone. I just change the default symbol location on their system installs.

I'll have to check that out in a little more detail ... I do know however, that trying to open drawings from the backup files on other computers ALWAYS gives errors.

I'm considering loading all of my CUSTOM title blocks ... all 21 of them ... into each project at the onset and selecting that path to them in the planset, but it's a PITA workaround at best.

if you are storing everything to a centrail drive move your title drawings to a folder that is kept on that drive and not in the title block folder. I use a folder that contains A1-A10 etc. Every time I start a drawing set, I open that folder and copy a set of them. Then paste them in the new drawing folder using windows explorer. I don't use title drawings any other way. It's fast and they are always on the drawing set I am working on.

Thomas-I think you have to have the exact same pathing for the title block.  If my customer or builder or associate does not have C:/User/Tom/Softplan/Titleblocks it still does not work.  I agree with Keith, seems like there should be a better way of doing this.

It may be less efficient, but I copy and paste all my title blocks into each project. And, my projects are all in Dropbox, so I can get them from anywhere, and all drawings are there.
