Is there a way to print 3/4" scale for a cross section without some of the items looking "out of scale"  The screen shot is of a 32" high foundation wall with a 4" cheek wall for a slab support next to it.  I understand the principal behind the adjust size, I can't make it look "right" compared to the detail shots I've seen thru the years.

I don't know to get to look like 4 courses of 8's instead of 12 courses of ?

Thanks,

Mike

If you edit the BRICK section, and change the appearance type to BLOCK instead of brick it will change your block coursing to 7-1/2" instead of brick at 2-3/4" (my defaults) ... You can also edit the coursing heights in either the SYSTEM or DRAWING OPTIONS > MATERIAL DIMENSIONS > MATERIAL OPTIONS ...

These adjustments are from 2018, but they should be editable somewhere similar in V13.4, I just can't remember where.

Thanks..Keith

I have my settings similar to yours and they look perfectly normal until I adjust the size to print a blowup detail in 3/4" = 1'.  Then it ends up like the screen shot.  It has always done that and unlike other times when I stumble on fixes, I haven't for this.

I click on that wall it says its 8' tall  (3x32")

I create a wall section and if I don't adjust the size and leave it at 1/4" scale....all is good.

Thanks again, this has been in my crawl for a while and I don't know what I am doing wrong.

you really shouldn't need to change any default material sizes and I think there is a better way than using ADJUST to stretch the detail.

(IF you want a separate drawing at 3/4" scale, then I could see using adjust)

My example of what I think is a better way....

Use a base drawing for a multi drawing, bring in your detail at 1.0 or 1/4" scale. Bring in the SAME drawing again at a 3.0 or 3/4" scale. Indicate a "portion" of this drawing to be displayed and position it where you would like. Go to your base drawing used to import both drawings and draw your outlining circles and lines connecting the two circles.

When you print 1/4" scale, your "blow up detail" will be properly scaled at 3/4" scale. Basically all created from ONE drawing. If you have to change the original drawing, your blow up detail will change as well. All dimensions are correct, etc.

see revised attachment.

Mike How are you creating the blow up detail ... if you are just adjusting the size then it will still show as 8" high, since your whole detail is 3x the size it should be, and the coursing will of course, remain at 8"

On your multi-drawing, you need to add a partial drawing at a scale of 3, and work from there.

You could set your coursing to 3x the default just for that drawing. But that would only work if you ONLY use that drawing as a blowup, not as a standard section. To make it feasible, you would have to save the drawing twice ... once as a blowup version cropped to suit, but if you're doing that, then I'd reset all the sizes as below.

My preference however, is to set up a drawing that is at 3/4" = 1'-0" set all the character sizes, dimension sizes etc. to suit (i.e 1/3rd of their original settings), and save a blank drawing. If you then insert a drawing into it, your original drawing will inherit the properties of the new drawing, you can crop to suit, and insert into your multi-drawing at the correct scale.

I have set up multiple scaled bases just for this purpose ...

Alternately, you could always EXPLODE the blockwork and do it the way you are.

I draw a structure w/ a 4 course foundation. Cut thru it...adjust size to 3/4" = 1' and it looks like 12 courses (like the screen shot).  I have not tried exploding the block after the adjust size.  I like the idea of creating a blank drawing for the individual scales.  I will give that try.

Thanks to all.

Mike

Mike,

I modified my original post on this subject, because I believe I mis-understood what you were looking for.

Mike ... EXPLODE the foundation blocks BEFORE the adjust size.
