So when generating report, along with some other errors (mostly that it is trying to count notes) it states that some of my window have the error of "No library category selected".  At least one of these errors comes from a window that is in the library that has windows  that are being counted no problem.  I am not really understanding this error message so I am not sure where to start/go to fix the problem (I have manually added the windows at this time)

Also, would be nice if you could right click on the error to open up the material or symbol in question to fix it

Good morning Tom,

Sorry about the delay, I don't log in every day.

This happens a lot with me as I pull in co-worker drawings to check the Softlist report(s). So my "system" sees a lot of "new" openings the individuals may have created for their drawings.

So my libraries expand ... a lot.

Technically you can double click the window in your exception area and the Library this window resides in will open.

When it does you'll see Library Category is most likely blank due to it being a 'new' window. Just select the drop down list of Library Categories and choose the appropriate one.

Most likely choice would be your "Windows" category. But your system and report method can be very different than mine. Also while in the Library check your NAHB code for the opening

in question. It has effect on where in your report the item lists.

An alternate is to go to System Options Softlist Configuration Libraries and open the Openings library (doors/windows). Then select the specific library your window lives in. Once open you'll see the column tilted "Library Category"

Get the category changed to the correct one. I'd assume it would be "Windows" but the system allows a lot of customizing .. .

.. Also check the NAHB code ... make sure it matches the other windows you're reporting. Else it will come out in a different row or maybe not at all.

Hope this helps and is clear enough to follow. I find not much in Softplan is Direct. You always have to open a couple of things. Edit it more than once before it takes effect.

Hi Alan,

The NAHB # (the old sequence number) no longer appears to have any control over the location of an item in the SoftList report. That has been replaced with the "Library category" which is now a drag and drop in the " Layout" mode of the SoftList report. This is demonstrated in the Friday Fundamental video.

Thanks Alan and Philip.  I will check on the videos (forgot about the Friday  Fundamentials).  Also need to really sit down and digest the new way that softlist does everything.

Why would the furniture be giving me the same "No library category selected"?  When I double click it does not have a library nor is there one that is reasonable to pick from.  And to top it all off it is not even checked to be included in the material list.

Hi Tom

If you have a check mark in the "Include " column of the Library table you'll get a notice regardless of whether the SoftList tab is checked (when you edit the actual symbol in your drawing).

You can add as many new Library Categories as you want. Go to System Options_SoftList Config_Libraries  and then click on the "Library Categories button on the lower right.

I looked in the library and it does not have anything marked to be in Softlist.  The symbols are one that came with Softplan.  And I don't have anything clicked to include.  Not sure why I get this error.  Understandable if it was something I created but these are Softplan items.

I stand corrected Tom. Not sure what to make of the error. I too am having to relearn some of SoftList with this new 2018 version.

Hey Tom.....have you figured out how to eliminate the output errors? It took me a year of convincing to make the switch from 2016 to 2018. I finally did it but am now trying to figure out how to eliminate the 79 output errors I get on my report. I have lost confidence in my reports now and the down time is gut wrenching to say the least. Any tidbits of advice or suggestions would be much appreciated.
