the mainfloor.spd and model totals should match....

Ok, then type erase 'Areas' and see what happens. This should get rid of area's that are in other Layers or Building Options.

Temporary fix for me.

Only display areas for the current drawing and not for the model.  i dont like this, but, ok.

strike a line through the area that SP is finding that doesn't exist.

And finally hope the system magically fixes itself.

Just to be sure about these issues, I have had "ghost" items in 2016 where is its deleted but somewhere still shows its influence.  Although it is a rare thing (happened only a couple of times on a drawing created in an earlier version), it has happened to be me 2016.  I have not upgraded to 2018 yet.

Ok. I haven't seen this type of behaviour before, looks like a good one for Tech Support.

I have just experienced this extra area showing on my schedule.

I have done a type erase of areas and then retraced the first floor area.

When I generate the area schedule there was still a "basement" area which had not been selected.

A ticket has been submitted.

Hope this gets fixed fast.

I have noticed issues with square footage only since i updated to the latest 4.0 patch.  Seems like they broke something in the latest version....Anyone else notice this start happening after install?

Allen, i'm having your same issue with low number sq.ft. showing.  Clearly is a programming issue here and a random problem i believe.  A fix for me is:  Copy that area to clipboard/delete the area/paste the clipboard item/CTRL-C.  Unfortunately Tech Support with not investigate unless they can recreate the issue.  Considering this are isolated cases and hard to identify, don't think we will have much support.

Next occurrence for me i'll create a ticket.

And here is, an area that isn't apparently here ...

Even regenerating the schedule doesn't show anything.

I also copied a window area of 9.2 ft² onto 4 matching windows ... Total Area 9.2 ft² ...

Come on Softplan, the area calculations are important to us. If we can't trust them where are we?

I have noticed in my situation specifically that many files after the 4.0 update show a Gross Floor Area that has not been added to the drawing. If I close the file, not even the whole project and then open the file back up, I notice the Gross Floor Area disappear from my Area Schedule.

Happened to me today also.  I checked the area and it came up to 78 square feet.  I messed around with it a little bit more and then it would not display any areas.  I ended up shutting softplan down and restarting it and then it seemed ok.  I agree though, something has been amiss since the latest patch.

clip board copy the area/delete that area/clipboard past that area/CTRL-C

above is a fast way to get your area back.

remember "CTRL-pick" is a fast way to highlight individual items to copy.

In my case closing the project and reopening it corrected the issue.

When I sent tech support the ticket the areas were correct so it gave them nothing to work with.

I am guessing that until they can make it happen on a drawing in their office it may remain an elusive prblem.

this program is becoming increasingly too complex.  the amount of unknowns are becoming too problematic for me to deal with on a daily basis....and here i considered myself  an advanced user.

Please create tickets for any floor plans that are incorrectly reporting areas and we can take a look.

i sent one in yesterday, but if they open it on their end the issue is already gone.  Likely just need to play around with it to try and make it happen, I haven't found any particular reason it happens just yet.

I was able to send one showing 14.2sf vs. the actual of 1018.7sf.  Again, they cannot re-create the issue on their end.  I was able to capture the screenshot and share it with them.  FYI, when I right-clicked the area and went into the "Info" it showed the accurate SF.
