I renamed my LVL beams in my system/project and drawing level to be consistent with how they are bought (i.e. 2-ply 1-3/4"x11-7/8" LVL, etc.) However on my generated material list it gives the overall width of 3-1/2" which I really dont want. Openings show the product codes but that is because they are symbols. Is there a simpler way of doing this instead of creating custom code for each size?

I don't use the lumber formulas for my headers. Instead I use multiple levels of "if" equations in my Material Definition. So, instead of displaying the length, width, and height I calculate the total amount of product needed, and will display whatever description I choose.
Here is my large opening header formula:
In this example I only have an "if" on the length of the header. In your setup you could easily create multiple "if" requirements for header length, header width, header depth, ect. In the end you would end up with multiple line items in your Material Definition to properly cover all the different foreseeable sizes.
I use the same philosophy for my stud calculations:
As you can see I have multiple "if"'s built in. So to capture all of the foreseeable stud sizes I had to make several equations to capture all the possible stud heights & widths.

My way of calculating lumber is not really how SP designed the program to work, but I had a hard time getting the lumber formulas to work the way I wanted so I went this route instead. The biggest drawback is no cut-list creation. Mine will simply create a running total of each. This may not be the answer you needed, but maybe will give you another idea to make your's display properly.

Do you have your beam defined as a 2 ply beam? (see attached). The stock LVL beams that come with SoftPlan are defined as a single ply LVL that is 3-1/2" wide. Most all LVL that we use is (2) ply that is assembled to make the composite 3-1/2" wide beam
If you do then check the LVL Lumber table to ensure that the "Rounding Options" are set to "Exact"

Thank you Derrick. I like your different approach on this. While not quite what I was looking for I know there is a piece in there that will help me with a formula down the road. Thank you.
Philip-That was what I was looking for. I did not have the 1.75" in my lumber table; still had it called out as 3-1/2". Changed that and it fixed it. Thanks.
