Is there an easy way to figure out the total amount of wall area based on the wall covering I've chosen.

Can I have that displayed in the Room Finish Schedule?

Or is it only available through the use of SoftList?

If you go into Interior mode, you can right click on the wall covering and choose "Label", then click in the room to add a label that gives the wall covering area. I can't seem to find a way to add this to a room schedule though.

That works well.  Thanks Philip.

Though it is the gross area without any opening subtractions.  Is there a way to export the amounts that would be calculated in the formulas we create in SoftList... subtracting the openings and the like.  I do a lot of renovation work and these numbers are something that I have to calculate after I get the job when a client wants different wall finishes....

To get the information you want without generating a full SoftList report you can edit the wallcovering and go to the SoftList Tab. Select 'List materials' there and it will give you the quantity of paint for that particular room/polygon using the formula and coverage already set-up in SoftList which does account for the removal of the opening areas.

If you just want the areas without coverage and cost, the paint formula can be copied using the Add Companion Material button, give it a name like 'Paint Area', change the units to Sqft, remove the costs associated with it and remove the coverage factor.

Perfect perfect.

It would be great to see a softlist report developed for this sort of remodeling situation.  Information created on a per room basis.  Listed by area or whatever the pertinent quantity is.  Mind you I guess that is something I would need to develop myself.

Bedroom

Floor Area

Perimeter

Baseboard lnft

Casing lnft

Crown molding lnft

Wall Paint ft2

Ceilng Paint ft2

Flooring ft2

Receptacles

Switches

Lights

I guess I have some homework to do.

It would also be great to be able to easily be able to insert that information as a live variable in a room note.  I find for handling sub trades, and my own employees, having the items required on a room basis is a god send for being able to check off items as they are completed.

Any ideas for that?
