Somebody tell me what I am missing.  I would like to have the exterior dimensions to go to the exterior wall stud.  But when I run them along the inside of the house I would like them to snap to the inside of the wall (14'-8").  However I can not find a consistent setting.  After I changed situations it comes back to going to the outside again.

Set your dimension and extension to  "both" on the stud.

 

Extension from the exterior where you would like and on the interior it will snap to the inside stud.

Thanks Jason.  What I missed is that I change the plate instead of the stud.  That is why I could never get it to work.  I knew I was right when I said "dazed"
