How do I model the supports for a canopy. I am trying to use a cylinder solid, but cannot get it to rotate to an angle

I would model them in Sketchup, anchor plates, bolt heads and all. To make the angled rods just sketch a line between the two anchor points and use Sketchup's "follow me" command to extrude a cylinder along the line. Import the drawing into Softplan and create a symbol.

Search the symbol library for 'bracket', I did and there's a few that come up. I've also gone to websites, other than SketchUp, found a bracket that I like and imported that.

Like Randy says, using a SLOPED BEAM is a quick way to model the angled supports..

wall brackets can be SOLID CUBES...

Thank you! do wish to keep this w/in Soft Plan and not have to resort to another program. i.e. Sketch Up. I will give it a try today.
