This may have been covered before but I haven't found a solution. I have been dealing with this forever and just get by but it is growing tiresome. Here is my issue and hope there is a way.

I have a house plan that I want to widen by say, 10ft. I can block move the entire right half of the floor plan. However openings stop my move block well short of where I want to move things to.

Is there a way to force the block move and just have the ******* openings move with everything else?? I am near the end of my patience with having to delete and reinsert all of the openings along the move path. Hopefully there is a solution.

Thanks everyone.

The openings stop the move because they run out of wall for them to move to.

You do not need to delete and reinstall the openings.

Adjust the length of the wall(s) that are causing the problem.

Then clean up as necessary after the move.

I'd move the outer wall with attach turned on by adjusting the relevant dimension, and then block move the inner portions as usual. As Steve said, as long as there is wall to move on, they should block move as necessary.

I would love to see improvements on the block/move/openings issue.

Thanks for the replies. I too would like to see improvements with this function. Perhaps a checkbox to allow walls to adjust/stretch within the block move when only part of the wall is enclosed? I need that to happen about 98 times out of 100.

I think if attach is on, the wall should be ghosted to it's new length and then allow openings to move along with it.

Or me ... when I tested it, I assumed that Don was suggesting it as a possible upgrade.

The stupid thing is, this is a new issue. Earlier versions didn't have this problem.

When I said earlier, I meant version 8 (or so) ... not the 20 something versions.

And dimensions/extensions worked better prior to the 20-something versions too. (I'm on 2016). One reason I resist upgrading when things are released is that it always seems to be the old "this new feature is great, but now this feature is worse". Not sure why things can't stay put and simply have the new features added.
