Is there a way to rotate block around a certain point?  I have a garage that was set at 45 degrees from the house and I need to make it parallel.  I want to just rotate it at from one corner but the command just seems to pick some arbitrary point.

Put a construction point where you need to rotate it from, and select the objects to rotate with CTRL and a selection box ... Don't highlight select rotation point (for some unknown reason it seems to work very oddly) ... Then select the rotation point. Use rotate NOT rotate block.

I never needed that option so I checked. If you select the objects at then select rotate a "select Rotation Point" appears up at the top in the info bar

Keith,

I think we hit the reply button at the same moment!

I think we did!

The select rotation point option doesn't seem to work that reliably ...

Thanks.  That works well but I think it would be nice to have it work the same with a block or even better a poly line.  Trying to make sure I select every piece that I need rotated individually is a bit of a pain

Just re-read Keith.  Control and drag a box.  Got it

Tom,

Have you tried rotating your cursor before you make your selection around your angled garage? (Go to your "Options" Ribbon and then choose- "Cursor Options" - "Pick Cursor Axis", then click on a rotated object). Once your cursor is rotated, your selection box will follow your rotated cursor and you can select your entire garage with one big selection box.

An alternative approach.  Depends on how things are laid out.  Block move your garage (attach off) to area clear of everything.  Rotate your garage.  Use group command around your garage.  Now move your garage with attach and group on to your desired position.

you can use >  move / align to edge to put it back where

it belongs after your block move it away from the main building

and do the rotate block.

never have tried any of the mentioned ways to handle this so

have no idea what works best.

Thanks Kevin. That was the method that I was using, which prompted me to think that there might be a better way. I did the control select block and pick individual pieces then rotated it that way and that seemed to work fairly well though they got a little complicated trying to unselect certain pieces

Actually Keith I didn't.  I normally use view options and display everything.
