I am drawing my ceiling framing plan (I have only done a few of these) and when I cut a hole (or place a tray ceiling) the framing plan adjusts to show the cut joists as well as additional framing around the opening.  That works great!  When I add another one in another room, it still cuts the joists but all the additional framing around the opening is not there, and the additional framing around the first opening also disappears.  See pics.

Anyone seen this before?

Thanks,

Dave

Nothing is new with that behavior.

For a simple rectangular hole we can frame that out with doubled joists and headers.

If more than one hole is cut in the same joist set or if a polygon shaped hole is cut we will not frame the opening(s) and you can add the appropriate framing members necessary to meet you code requirements.

I hope that explanation helps.
