Does anyone know if there's a setting to get interior walls to cover floor system? Just noticed the interior view of a Chalet with loft floor that the rim board isn't covered. For materials I've found what you see is what you get so I suspect I'm not getting it in my drywall count either.

 

Anyone grappled with this and found a solution?

In the image I have a beam below the floor system so it looks really thick. But to left it's just floor system.

How do I get it to be covered??

And in this image I applied drywall to the beam surface using the option available in the Beam DBX.

So I'm sure they have a way to get the rimboard covered .... just haven't located it ...

As long as the wall is up against the edge of a floor system, you'll have the option to " Cover Floor" when you edit the wall.( see attached).

Slick. I aligned to edge and the interior wall came up preset to cover floor.

 

Much faster than submitting a support ticket.

 

Now I just have to get the floor edge that has no wall atop ...

Any rim boards that are left exposed I cover with a 1/2" thick solid set as drywall. The height would always be the joist plus the floor sheathing. Sometimes I have several layers of solids to represent the drywall, skirt and nosing. I put them all on their own layer that can be turned off so they don't clutter up the plan sets.

Is there a floor system drawn beyond that with a hole cut?  If so, edit hole, add drywall

I don't think I have ever been able to get Softplan to add drywall to a hole yet. I gave up trying.

Sam, no hole cut. This drawing has the floor end where shown. Excellent thought process.

 

Martin, I think that'll be the route I take. Add solid to make up the materials not coming up in Softlist AND get a better interior visual.

You can add material definitions for solids and write formulas to account for the correct material

 

UPDATE!

 

After checking this little tidbit it appears that I lie like a cheap rug. There don't seem to be any Softplan variables for solids.

 

How about it Softplan? A possible update? We can assign a name but not a price.

 

That being said perhaps banding is the way to go.

Yup! Banding is the way to go. Pick a rectangular profile, set the thickness to 1/2", set "inset", set the height and the material. Now Softlist can count the drywall. I am making the change. Its easier and faster than solids anyway. I am going to try multiple layer of different material.

Create your drywall band from a solid, save it as a symbol and call it "Drywall Band" . Then create the cost formula. I have several symbols created by solids. Ex: Header wraps, wall caps, coffered beams, column bases, etc.
