list any overlooked nuggets that you've found on v2016.

(or in any prior versions for that matter)

NEW in 2016:

in > options / visible items / roof / roof outline DASHED

this save us from having to trace the roof outline with

DASHED lines on your floor plan for your con docs

(or on any plans where you want a dashed roof line)

That's one I requested about 4 months ago (probably others too!). Sure is nice to see SoftPlan respond to our suggestions.

thomas roman brought to our attention that we now can "curve tops of wall" (top deflection)

tip:  if you put a positive dimension in it'll curve UP.

if you put a negative number in (add a minus sign in front of dimension) it'll curve down.

and as always, you can also curve the wall in plan view  >  draw / curve wall

nice for garden walls

can add a CAP to top of curved wall with curved top.

note: check "fixed" on the cap material.

to get materials on the beam end (profile) to show correct,

try checking "scale" and don't check "orient".

the wood material you use can make a difference

on how it looks when your using a "profile" on the "beam end"

Randy, I have to ask, how do you get images inline with the text. I have to add mine, as they won't paste into the text. With the tutorial I've just done, it would have been nice to follow the images through.

keith

i don't understand when you ask

"how do you get images inline with the text"

the only texture i have with an image is the "jerracic park" text (# 6 above) which is done

in NOTES / "3d text" in site mode.

i'm a little slow today.

Sorry Randy, maybe didn't make myself clear. How do you add images into the body of the post , without adding them as an attached thumbnail. I've tried to paste a clipboard image, but it doesn't work.

I'd like to be able to do:

Text - Image - Text - Image - Text - Image - Text.

So that in a tutorial, I can add images at an appropriate place in the text.

The tutorial I just did, would benefit from not having images together at the end.

After you upload a file

Place your cursor where you want the image

and on the right hand side click add to post (or something like that)

Overlooked Nuggets .....

I don't remember reading anything about text etc. but the text display on 2016 is MUCH sharper than 2014.

Thanks, must have missed that one. The difference is much greater than I would have imagined too.

In ver. 2016 the COPY tool does NOT default to the number of copies to the last number that was entered, but rather defaults to one...

I like that change, a lot, as I often ended up with, say, 7 copies of something when I just wanted one.. which was terrible if the 6 additional copies were off-screen, and I did not catch it until later...

indeed, it was me that asked for this change ... so, are you glad I did so?... or are you pissed at me?

Yes, I think that was a good change too. I'd rather have 1 when I need 7, than 7 when I need 1, much easier to handle the fix.

Tom - I think that's a great change.  I think I may have asked for that as well.   The other thing I want is for the default line types to not change when I use draw select to draw a line.  It feels like everytime I use the line command it's drawing a type of line that I don't want, it also affects the pointers in the same way.
