polygon texture paint

How do we apply texture to a polygon like we apply texture to a rectangle?  I sure hope i'm not the first person to table this question.  I could use paint then move the polygon & do a cleanup i'm pretty sure the paint changes.

You can't apply texture to a polygon ... Seems odd doesn't it. They are either clear or filled.

 

I'd trace it with a shade break and add a shade paint.

A couple of other ways, you can explode the poly to lines and then paint your texture or if you need the poly to stay intact, you can copy the poly over to a clear space, explode, paint, and then block move back over the same distance.

Exactly what I posted about a few days ago!

Seems almost like it has been an oversight unless there is some reason why polygons

are difficult to treat the same way as boxes.
