Does anyone know of a way to add symbols in different modes?  I am specifically trying to add a detail reference symbol to the flooring mode but see of no way to do it simply without putting it on its own layer.  I know I could put it on the drawing mode and click it visible in all but that doesn't work in my situation.  Would seem like a nice suggestion for an upgrade

I just found a way to do it. Add the "SYMBOL" command to the Floor System Mode tool bar. Click on the little down arrow at the end of the tool bar and hover over "Add or Remove Buttons" then click on "Customize". Scroll down to the bottom of the "Categories" windows and select "All Commands". Scroll down to the "Symbols" command and drag it up to where ever you want it in the tool bar.

I used this to add symbols to the drawing while in "Floor System" mode and it works fine if you make the drawing symbols visible (options menu). The default setting seems to have the "Visible In All Modes" option turned off so it will not appear in the other drawing modes.

The attached image shows a 2D Napoleon fireplace dropped in the middle of the floor.

Thanks Martin.  That works great.  Except now I have another issue after it is inserted.  I can edit the symbol but I can not move it.  Is there some setting I am missing?

Go into DRAWING mode, OPTIONS > VISIBLE ITEMS and check DISPLAY EVERYTHING ... you can then move (or otherwise manipulate) items that are in other modes. When you're done uncheck DISPLAY EVERYTHING.

Hover over the symbol, right click and "Add Selection". Then you should be able to use the "move" command from the menu bar.
