I seem to recall a feature in 2014 (that I never used) for custom fencing. Does this still exist in 2016 and if so, where?

"Version 2014 introduces comprehensive fence design. Providing options to set boards, rails, posts, gates, and fence panels"

In 2014, the fence definitions are in the System Library under (funnily enough) "Fence Definitions". They are probably in the same place in 2016. You can define your own fences as almost whatever you want.

I don't think I've ever found anything I needed with SP search.  I thought it was just my ignorance..... glad to know I'm not alone.

Not sure what you mean that "Search" didn't work. I just typed in "Fence" and came up with numerous topics.

Doesn't give much information on creating a custom fence from the definitions menu though Philip. I seem to remember trying to create a custom fence once. I don't seem to remember it being very intuitive either. Although that may be because I didn't have enough time to work it out, and ended up using a standard fence, and adding a disclaimer that the fence shown may not be exactly what the customer required etc.

Under Drawing Site Line Details in the help you can scroll down a little bit and see a description of how to edit a fence.

fencepic.png

You can see that you have control over a fence's rails, boards, posts, post caps, pads and you can also used 3d symbols as fence panels

To Draw a preconfigured fence go to Site Mode, Select Draw->Site Work->Fence

There are many options to choose from.

Drawing a preconfigured fence and editing it will give you a good idea of what the different fence controls do should you wish to define your own.

To define your own for reuse, go to System Options->system library.  Pick Fence Definitions as the library type and use "one step" to create a new fence type.

If you have already modified an existing fence on your drawing and you wish to reuse it, you can edit it and use the Add Definition Option which will place the fence in a library for you.

Thanks John Pepper. I was trying to draw a fence symbol. Good to know this is in site. Probably should have guessed that.

to draw a "gate" >

have the fence going thru where you want the gate,

than go to draw / site work / fence gate and draw

ALONG the fence where you want the gate

and the length you want the gate,

than EDIT the fence where you drew the gate

and you'll see a "GATE" tab,  click on that

and do what you need to do > can make

it a single gate or a double gate and have

it SWING any direction and any degree.

LEFT click on image to ENLARGE

Excellent Randy. You are a wealth of knowledge ..... What's with the Santa Power Sleigh? ,,,,, You do know you need therapy don't you <grin>? And that wooden bracket is probably a little bigger than the manufacturer intended!
