Thoughts on adding a gable vent that looks like this?

I cannot get the exterior trim to look correct...and

And how do you add keystones on sides and bottom?

As far As I'm aware, you have to make a custom 3D symbol and add it independently. However, getting the texture right may be almost impossible, as I don't think that there is a suitable round brick texture. You could always add the bricks and mortar as individual units and just get the colours close.

I would try this. Add the vent with the brick trim around it. Then make a symbol with just the 4 keystone the size you need. Then add the symbol to the drawing and change the offset to match the vent.

The brick trim doesn't seem to work too well.

This modeling was done in another popular 3D modeling program, ..

Block forming 3D Polygons was baffling me on this one, .. line work seemed to fall apart when the polygon was formed,

.. I'm sure there's another approach in Softplan that would work though

Tapered brick not really to scale, ( I'll probably re-do sometime when I've got the time)

Built with various shapes and colors for as much detail as possible, .. ie: recess at mortar joints

Color matching the textures in Softplan was tricky, .. still not exact, .. but for far off view-points, probably wouldn't be noticeable.

Hard to find Softplan Brick Textures that match with their individual bricks, .. or maybe they display differently given their context.

.. invariably, someone will have a simpler solution.
