Is there a way to create gutter downspouts? It seems you have to make them with solid shapes.

As far as I know there is no way to generate downspouts. As you say it may be best to create them with solids ... which in itself may be easier said than done ... at first glance a solid tube would suffice, but it has to be offset to the wall, and then will vary if you have variable eaves overhangs.

Personally I'd create one (or a few variables) in Sketckup with the follow me tool, and save them as symbols. They can be longer than required and disappear into the ground. Otherwise there are to many variables to contemplate.

I've noticed that before and never paid any attention to it - Not that I'll ever use it.  It's just so awkward to assemble. Thanks Martin.

Tim

I have them in my symbols from SoftPlan.

These appear to work very well.  Just set them in place and adjust the length.

The pre-made symbols work pretty well for 3D purposes, and you can stretch the length with some success (and distortion at the offset at top). They do  generate a lot of excess linework when generating elevations so I tend to turn them off before generating my elevations.
