How do you add items to your symbol libraries. I have been seeing that Softplan adds new appliances and furniture to the program. How do I get those items in my library to use?

I believe that any libraries you have access to (depending on whether you are a Softplan+ subscriber or not) will be added to your library when you open the relevant library - it may take a few minutes to propagate.
