When drawing a covered porch I draw the beam around the parameter and then go put the roof on. I probably don't do this correctly.. In 3d it will show the gable end of the porch with the beam under it, (gable end fit to roof). In all reality there is no beam on the gable end...but here's the problem. When I take away the beam on the gable the very first time you do anything at all on that end of the porch the fascia and overhang disappear. Whats the proper way?

I hide it on the floor plan - but edit it to be 1/4" high - or the same depth as the underside of beam to soffit measurement - and line it up with the bottoms of the surrounding beams. That way it allows the gable finish to drop to the level of the soffit. If you just don't extract in model, the open gable is invariably too high.
