I am doing a house currently that I just can not figure out the roof. It is a house with a large bonus room over part of it. This is what the roof mode looks like and the front elevation. I dont know if it is due to the differing heights of the porch walls or what but nothing is coming out right. I have tried to do it in multi roof mode.

Jonathan can you post a screen shot of the roof lines you are

currently working with?

I finally got the roof over the room mostly right but now I have a roof in the room. I was originally trying to trace the entire roof (which gave some crazy output) and then figured out how to exclude some of the room to allow a roof to be added separate.

Also the client wants a shed roof over a window that has a dutch gable on that side (left side)

You can use the trace hole along with snap tools to cut out the roof section

inside the room. After cutting the hole edit the hole and uncheck the fascia and soffit box.

You could also use the auto hole tool.

thank you that worked

Any ideas on doing a shed roof over a window only? It would be under the gable

Draw 3 beams to support the shed roof and then use the Add a Shed Roof tool.

You could show angled supports for the beams or have them hidden and just hang

a mono truss off the wall if the shed did not come out far, depending on the roof loads

where this is to be built.

Be sure to set the beam offsets to desired height, beaams are offset from top of foundation.
