Before changing computer, I did a Backup thru the Archive in the System Options and then a Restore on the new computer.

I just noticed while in 3D that the textures were showing up properly but that if I wanted to edit a texture and Select Preconfigured Material, the Material Library was the Default one instead of mine. Luckily, I was able to retrieve mine from the hold system. What should I have done differently or was that a glitch?

The archive backup DOESN'T back up either the MATERIAL FILES or the RENDER OPTIONS. They would have to be backed up as part of a standard backup routine. Although I believe that this is an oversight on Softplans part and should be addressed.

I do not use archive or backup features in SP, had mixed results may years ago with doing this...ended up missing a bunch of either custom symbols or textures or something.

I'd use File Explorer and just backup the whole SoftPlan 2018 directory.  I have a remote office twice/week so I sync over 2 PC's and 1 laptop for SoftPlan 2018 directory and my projects directory and it works great.  With the speed of copying files and the size of storage drives its easy and fast.  In the event of a corrupt anything in the Softplan 2018 just delete the whole directory and copy the new one from the storage location....NOTE:just keep your storage copy fairly current to prevent loss of custom symbols, notes or anything else you may add.

not a plug for GoodSync, however its what i use.  whenever i connect back into the home network it begins to sync my 3 computers and in a matter of a few minutes the SP root folder and my job folder are equal on all pcs.

You have the ability to back-up and restore your  3D Material Files currently. Yvon's original post related to the back-up and restore of Preconfigured materials, which reside in the 3D/Materials Library folder as  *.SMF files.

A suggestion has been made to include the Material Library which contains the preconfigured material settings as well as the Render Options when doing an Archive.
