I know there was a discussion about this but can seem to find it.  Has anyone found a way to match up textures when you have walls stacked?  There is no offset on the textured or rendering like there is when you use paint. And since i am using Softlist for a material I need to build this like it will be in the field (wall + kneewall).  Screenshot (73).png

As far as I'm aware, there is still NO WAY to line up textures. They have a defined start location and it can't be changed.

Tom, when I run into this problem I draw a plane that is 1/8" in front of the siding and adjust the height and offset to get it to line up with the suspect texture and then adjust the width of the plane to get the textures to line up. Sometimes I am required to move the texture along the wall to get the textures to line up. Between adjusting the width and the location of the plane I can get it to work most of the time so that my 3D looks good.

I hope this makes sense.

Thank Chris.  That works only if it is a plain wall with no openings I guess.  The plane would cover up the windows otherwise.  This is a project that I am doing for another designer who doesn't have BIM but their customers are requesting 3D and material list.  I will leave it  for them to explain it through.  Only getting a flat fee not a percentage (now that I think of it I should have worked a better deal for recognition- )

Tom, here is a similar example of what i am talking about. The board and batten walls are a 24" knee wall on the second floor and are fit to roof. There is a portion of that wall below the band board that shows the board and batten texture even though the it should be the lap siding below the band board. I've added the blue plane to cover up the board and batten. I've changed it to blue just to show you where the plane is but once I change it to the lap siding it appears as one texture all the way up to the band board.

I like that end around since it can still work with a Softlist.

Okay.  Same house, different issue.  I want the B and B siding to be a specific SW color.  When I select the color it shows it only as a solid piece without the battens.  How can I get a Softplan material to be a different color?

Enable depth relief ... It may not be perfect though ...

Other option ... Tell me what colour you need it to be and I'll see what I can put together!

Thanks Keith.  I am looking for SW 7045 for the board and batten.  I will work on the relief and see what I can get.  It is a shame that it doesnt work the sam as with deck board colors and trim and posts.  Those you can change the color and it works fine.  However with siding it does not.  Wonder why they don't all work the same way

Got it to work good enough with the relief.  Thanks

Another alternative is to create a siding only wall and place it on the top of the floor stack.  This wall can then be lowered to have a negative elevation.  Openings will work.  If using SoftList, be sure to turn it off for the wall so you don't double down on the siding and window trim.

If you need to follow roof pitches try copying the floor with the walls that extend to the roof and place them on the before mentioned highest level.  Then you can adjust the heights and elevations accordingly.
