I know it's been discussed before...but I was wondering if those of you using Lumion are happy with the results. Can you load Softplan directly into Lumion or do you have to go thru Sketchup? Can you load Softplan textures? And finally...what is the learning curve? It's fairly expensive … but Version 9 sure seems to amaze....thanks

I thought that version 9 of Lumion looked great as well. I was put in touch with a sales rep and he got me a 1 week trial of Version 9 Pro. Everything works, no watermarks on the renderings either.
You can't go right from Softplan to Lumion. You will need to export as a Sketchup file. You could probably export to 3ds or dwg if you don't have Softplan +. If have + so I didn't try anything else.
If you go through Sketchup all of the materials that you applied to your model in Softplan go right with it. They also will come into Lumion. Once in Lumion you can replace any materials that you want.
The Glass material in Lumion is really nice. The program has a lot of nice features and is pretty easy to use. You can get goog results very quickly. You can get great results if you are willing to put a little time in.
I can get better results using V-Ray for Sketchup but it is more work. It will all depend on your clients needs.

Pretty simple to do and like Michael says...if you have softplan+ you just export as sketchup file and open in lumion. The ONLY reason that I also use lumion is for sales of stock plans. For purely showing current clients what their project will look like, softplan does everything I need. The link below is to a video animation/walk through that we did in lumion.
