When I import a file from an outside source, any extra linestyles in that file are added to my linestyle list. Some cases, a site plan for example, have upwards of 15 extra types (gas, electric, cable, etc).

Is there a way to remove the unwanted line types?

I'm bringing this back to the top as I have not received an answer. Hopefully someone has solved this one.

I would recommend contacting Tech Support for an answer ... it doesn't appear that many have experienced this or found it to be a problem.

Are these line styles or layers?

I've seen that as well, but usually am glad for the added line styles. Although, the scale is often messy and dashed lines from the import appear solid, etc.

These are lines, not layers. They become a part of my linestyle list in that file's drawing options. It is mostly an annoyance as the lines that import are meaningless to me and it 'shrinks' my linestyle list and makes it so I have to scroll more to choose the line type I'm looking for.

Picky, I know, but a pain at times!  :D

Thanks for the replies!

-25° here today with wind chill of -48°! Glad I work out of a home office!

-17*F here at noon, windchill -26*F.

Last night -40 before windchill. Attended a meeting in the evening and the first bit when driving home felt like I had a flat tire I guess because of the cold.

Brad,  the only thing I can think of is if you have autocad then open the plan and "purge" the drawing. May have to do it a couple of times but it will get rid of all unused line, text and dimension styles that aren't actually being used in the drawing (which is quite often a whole lot of them because they originate in a 'template' drawing). If you can't do that then you could ask the sender to do it. If it is real bothersome and you can't do the above then send it my way and I can do it for you.

I don't know of a way to change or remove them but I believe that the original SoftPlan line styles always show up at the top of the list so when you are looking at the drop down after a certain line style then begins all the imported ones.

Thanks for the tips, everyone.

Gary....Thanks for the offer. I don't have AutoCAD in the office but can try to have the source do a purge prior to sending. I don't want to bother having you do it just because it bugs me personally.

Brian.... That's what I do. But the more lines that are in the list the smaller the line styles display in the drop down window and makes it difficult to see the difference.
