I would assume that the pre release is pretty much the full version.

If it's like 2018, the pre release is to iron out some bugs before the full version

Does the prerelease version require the use of a Softplan Key?

If I remember right, yes as it is still a full Softplan version

The problem is, I don't want to use a pre-release version in the office, and if I take my key home and use it there, I may forget to bring it back - I've done that once, don't want to do it again.

It would be nice to be able to PLAY with and understand the pre-release version without any pressure. Especially since you have to give a key number to be able to download it in the first place.

I actually made a comment to the SoftPlan team at the International Builders Show regarding the setup of the keys. I have no problem using them. But I work from both home and at the office. So I am constantly bringing it back and forth. Every once and a while I forget to grab it. I had said to them that I wish for the few times that it is forgotten, if we were still able to log in with the key number and a password for example just to use the software that time and then go back to using the key on the regular.

My problem is I work 110 km (68 miles) from home ... going home to get it ISN'T an option ...!

So, a little help form those who have already done it, and I can't recall how it worked with 2018; I signed up for the pre-release and using the code created an order which comes back like they are shipping it (which I doubt).  That was yesterday.  So this morning I am looking on my start page and see nothing different.  I go into system options and check updates and it says nothing.  How/when will I know?  Was hoping to install it before the day gets busy for me.

You should have been able to download it. Then it can take up to 24 hrs before coming active. Just to make sure, when you talk about your start page, do you mean your Softplan 2018 start page because Softplan 2020 will be a new set-up separate from 2018

Yes, I meant 2018 start page.  Still, nothing allowing me to download.  Will have to check with tech/sales

How did you sign up for pre-release? I have SP+, but have yet to see anything for 2020 when checking the support, installation, (enter key), download...

I clicked the “click here” on my start page notification to sign up. I was told that in 24 hours after processing my request, it would show up.

On the Softplan site installation page all I get is link to download 2016 and 2018.  There is nothing on my start page about 2020 eventhough the online tech said there should be.

Maybe they are trying to space out posting the links so that we don't all try to down load 2020 Friday afternoon.

It took me 24 hours to get it.  However they say there is access to a new 2020pre release forum but I am not seeing that anywhere here

The pre-release forum will be available to you once you have the 2020 pre-release.  They will update your account.
