In the offset diaglog box I enter in feet and inches but if I got back to the dialog box it reports in inches only.  Is there a way to set it to report in feet and inches?

No, it always reports in inches.

I can do it in feet and inches.  When I use offset I type in distances like 5'4 6'6 and it works fine

Right, but if you use it again it shows up in inches so unless you've memorized all the conversions you have to retype it in again.  I know it's a small think but sloppy interface programming bugs the heck out of me.

the speed of using just inches for offset is so much faster then feet and inches, pretty sure it was designed into the programming.

I don't view it as a sloppy interface at all. I like the way it works as is.

The offset value can be input in Feet & Inches, type 5 - 3 +, results in 63".

Sorry if I stepped on any toes but why should we have to mentally convert inches to feet and inches.

If need be in the future I can keep my comments limited to "how do I do this", I would hate to alienate myself to the forum.

No worries Dennis! I understand what you are saying- and why. I just personally like it the way it is that's all and you would like to see it different. Nothing wrong with that either! The offset value stays at the previous setting until its changed- no matter if it shows ft. & inches or just inches.

FWIW you ask some very good questions and have some good observations as well. Keep doing it!

Dennis NEVER said that he couldn't input the offset value in feet and inches. In fact in post one he specifically said he could. I'm used to the way it works, but I agree with Dennis' comments.

If I want to offset 25' and type 25' into the box, It would be handy if it stayed as 25' for future edits not change to 300" as 300" isn't a figure I recognize as being 25', and may have to actually retype 25' to be sure I had it right.

No toes stepped on here Dennis.  Maybe I am the anomaly as I think more in feet and inches then inches.   :D
